Training camp

The 30-Day Plan

The game is the rehearsal. This is the real thing: one small mission a day for thirty days, each paired with a scenario to practise first. Do it, check it off, earn XP.

The whole plan is below. Join free or sign in to check off days, earn XP and unlock the two training badges.

House rules. Be friendly and brief. Make every ask easy to say no to. If someone signals no (headphones, short answers, a step back, a partner), wish them well and leave. That still counts as a rep, and it is the most important one.

Week 1 · Days 1–7

Presence

No pickup yet. This week is about being relaxed and visible around strangers: eyes up, voice steady, phone away.

  1. Day 1

    Eyes Up

Take a 20-minute walk somewhere busy with your phone in your pocket. Make relaxed eye contact with five people and hold it for a beat before you look away. Smile if they do.

Reflect: Who looked back? What did your face and shoulders do when they did?

    Rehearse: The Coffee Line

  2. Day 2

    Ten Hellos

Say a friendly "morning" or "hey" to ten people today: a neighbour, a cashier, someone walking a dog. No follow-up needed. Just say it like you mean it.

Reflect: Which hello got the warmest response, and what was different about how you said it?

    Rehearse: Bookstore Browse

  3. Day 3

    Order Slowly

At a café or counter, slow everything down. Make eye contact, ask one genuine question ("What would you get?"), and thank the person by name if they wear a tag.

Reflect: Did slowing down change how the other person responded to you?

    Rehearse: The Coffee Line

  4. Day 4

    Take Up Space

Set three reminders on your phone. Each time one goes off, check your posture: feet planted, shoulders down and back, chin level, one slow breath out. Notice where you hold tension when you're nervous.

Reflect: When during the day did you shrink the most? What was going on?

  5. Day 5

    Ask a Stranger

Ask two strangers for a recommendation (a book, a lunch spot, a coffee order) and actually take one of them. Thank them properly, and if you see them again, report back.

Reflect: How did people react to being asked for their opinion?

    Rehearse: Bookstore Browse

  6. Day 6

    Find Your Voice

Record a 30-second voice memo telling a story from your week. Listen back. Record it again slower, a little louder, with one deliberate pause before the best part.

Reflect: What changed between take one and take two? Which version would you rather listen to?

  7. Day 7

    Be Somewhere

Spend an hour somewhere social (a market, a café, a bookstore) with no goal except staying present and relaxed. No headphones. Then play two Rookie scenarios and read the reviews.

Reflect: What felt easier at the end of this week than at the start?

    Rehearse: Farmers Market

Week 2 · Days 8–14

Conversation

Start conversations about what is in front of you, keep them going with real questions and stories, and end them before they fizzle.

  1. Day 8

    Say What You See

Start three conversations about something you and the other person can both see: the long line, the strange menu item, the dog, the weather. One light sentence that is easy to answer.

Reflect: Which observation got the best reaction: the funny one, the curious one or the helpful one?

    Rehearse: Farmers Market

  2. Day 9

    Open Questions

In every conversation today, ask at least one question that can't be answered with yes or no: "How did you get into that?" or "What's the story behind it?"

Reflect: Which question got someone talking the longest?

    Rehearse: Bookstore Browse

  3. Day 10

    Follow the Thread

Have one conversation where you only ask about things the other person has already mentioned. If they say "I just got back from my sister's," that's your next question.

Reflect: Did the conversation feel easier once you stopped planning your next line?

    Rehearse: The Coffee Line

  4. Day 11

    Your 60-Second Story

Write one short, true story from your life with a setup, a twist and a punchline. Practise it out loud, then tell it to two people this week.

Reflect: Where did people laugh or lean in? What could you cut?

Rehearse: Trivia Night (join to unlock)

  5. Day 12

    Leave on a High

End three conversations on purpose while they're still good: "I'll let you get back to it. Great talking to you." Leave before the energy dips, not after.

Reflect: How did it feel to be the one who ended it?

Rehearse: Not Tonight (join to unlock)

  6. Day 13

    Talk to Two

At a class, a meetup, a game night or a bar, start a conversation with two or more people at once, and make sure everyone in the group gets included.

Reflect: Who in the group warmed up first? How did you bring in the quietest person?

Rehearse: Trivia Night (join to unlock)

  7. Day 14

    Five Conversations

Have five short conversations with strangers today. Afterwards, score each one: did you open, ask a real question, follow a thread and exit well?

Reflect: Which of the four is your weakest? That's your focus for next week.

Rehearse: House Party (join to unlock)

Week 3 · Days 15–21

Connection

Move from small talk to rapport. Share something real, play a little, win over the friends and read the signals.

  1. Day 15

    Something Real

The next time someone asks "So what do you do?", answer with something you actually care about (a project, a hobby, a strange obsession), not just your job title.

Reflect: Did the conversation go somewhere new when you shared something you like?

Rehearse: House Party (join to unlock)

  2. Day 16

    Playful, Not Mean

Practise light teasing about trivial things: a controversial pizza order, a sports team, loyalty to a terrible café. Never about looks, weight or anything someone can't change.

Reflect: Where is your line between teasing someone and putting them down?

Rehearse: The Match (join to unlock)

  3. Day 17

    Compliment Choices

Give three sincere compliments on things people chose: a book, a jacket, a playlist, a good question. Say it, then let it land without asking for anything back.

Reflect: Which compliment got the biggest smile, and why do you think it did?

    Rehearse: Bookstore Browse

  4. Day 18

    Read the Signals

In every conversation today, watch for interest. Do they turn toward you, ask questions back, add to the conversation? Or give short answers and look away? When the signals say no, wrap up kindly.

Reflect: What signal did you notice today that you would have missed a month ago?

Rehearse: Not Tonight (join to unlock)

  5. Day 19

    Win the Friends

In a group, spend real time getting to know the friends, not just the person you're drawn to. Ask them questions, laugh at their jokes, bring them into your stories.

Reflect: How did the group's attitude change once the friends were on your side?

Rehearse: The Protective Friend (join to unlock)

  6. Day 20

    Say What You Like

Tell one person exactly what you enjoy about talking to them: "I like how you tell stories" or "You ask good questions." Keep it short, sincere and not about their looks.

Reflect: How did they respond? How did it feel to say it plainly?

Rehearse: Rooftop Bar (join to unlock)

  7. Day 21

    Social Hour

Go to a social event: a party, a meetup, a class, a quiz night. Stay at least an hour, start three conversations and introduce two people to each other.

Reflect: What happened to your nerves after the first conversation?

Rehearse: The Karaoke Crew (join to unlock)

Week 4 · Days 22–28

The Ask

Make plans like an adult: one clean ask, a quick follow-up, a specific invite, and a graceful exit when the answer is no.

  1. Day 22

    One Clean Ask

When a conversation is going well, ask to continue it: "I'd like to hear how that turns out. Can I get your number?" Ask once, make it easy to say no, and accept the answer either way.

Reflect: What made the ask feel natural, or what made it feel forced?

    Rehearse: The Coffee Line

  2. Day 23

    The Follow-Up

Text a new number within a day. Bring back something from your conversation, keep it short, then suggest a specific plan: a day, a time and a place.

Reflect: Did you suggest a real plan or a "sometime"? If it was a "sometime", rewrite it.

Rehearse: The Follow-Up (join to unlock)

  3. Day 24

    Date Ideas

Write down five low-key date ideas in your city that are cheap, easy to leave early and good for talking: a market, a walk with coffee, a quiz night, a gallery, a dessert place.

Reflect: Which idea would you enjoy most yourself? Lead with that one.

Rehearse: The Match (join to unlock)

  4. Day 25

    Hearing No

Practise the line until it's automatic: "No worries, have a great day." Use it whenever you get a no, a non-answer or an "I'm seeing someone." No second ask, no sulking, no arguing.

Reflect: When did a no last rattle you? How would today's version of you handle it?

Rehearse: Not Tonight (join to unlock)

  5. Day 26

    Daylight

Start a conversation in daylight somewhere ordinary: a market, a park, a bookstore, a museum. Keep it short and friendly, and if it goes well, ask to continue it another time.

Reflect: What felt different about daytime compared with a bar or a party?

    Rehearse: Farmers Market

  6. Day 27

    Night Out

At a quiz night, a bar or a live-music venue, start a conversation with a group, include everyone, and leave on a high note whether or not you ask for a number.

Reflect: How did you handle the group this time compared with day 13?

Rehearse: Trivia Night (join to unlock)

  7. Day 28

    Count Your Reps

Add up your month: conversations started, numbers asked for, plans made, no's handled well. Write down the three moments you're proudest of.

Reflect: Which number surprised you the most?

Rehearse: The Wedding Reception (join to unlock)

Days 29–30

Finale

Put it all together, then build the habit that keeps it going after the plan ends.

  1. Day 29

    The Date

Go on a date using one of your ideas from day 24, or plan one for this week. Be on time, ask good questions, share something real, and if you'd like to see them again, say so.

Reflect: Which part of the date felt most like you?

Rehearse: First Date Energy (join to unlock)

  2. Day 30

    Keep the Habit

Design your routine for next month: how many conversations a week, where, and one new place to try. Put it in your calendar. Then play a scenario you haven't won yet.

Reflect: Which habit from this month do you want to keep for good?
